| Rubber industry achieves record results
The rubber industry last year achieved record results in production and business. Its latex output increased from 1.73 tonnes per hectare in 1995 to 2.07 tonnes in 2007. Rubber farms reached an average value of 65 million USD (4,000 USD) per hectare a year, an increase of 2.5 times compared with 2002. The industry has applied intensive farming, and has planted high-yielding hybrids and diversified rubber products to increase production value.
